I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. This came as a shock because it is pretty rare among people my age. So far the prognosis is good. My life is no more at risk than on an average day.
I wanted to tell you all for several reasons. First, I believe in prayer and am not shy in asking those who share my faith to pray for me and my family. For my friends who do not pray, know that I treasure your good thoughts and love. Second, I may feel like venting or musing on this blog and it might be good for you to have a head’s up. And third, if I am lax on posting, I have a very good excuse. ;)
That’s all for now, I think. Bless you all, and thank you.

Wow, I am stunned. Both prayers and blessings.
February 11th, 2013 at 7:39 am
I’m still pretty stunned too. Thank you. Thank you very much.

I will definitely be praying.

Thank you. I am grateful for your prayers.

Oh my. I’m somewhat dazed.
Shall be praying for you, my dear.
February 11th, 2013 at 10:22 am
It’s a dazing thing. I remember how I felt when my brother was diagnosed with cancer in his 20s. He’s alive and well, for which I thank God on a regular basis, but it’s such a shock.
Thank you. I am very grateful.

Please know that my wife and I will pray for you and your family. God bless.

It is wonderful to see the love and support my daughter has here. Love and blessings all.
February 11th, 2013 at 12:12 pm
Your support for me is wonderful, mom.
February 11th, 2013 at 11:15 am
You know I will pray, and I will have my family and church pray as well. May God use this for His glory and the building of your spirit; but since He also desires that we ask for things we want, I pray that He heal you, as well.

Thank you, David.
Your thoughts are pretty close to mine. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t afraid, or that I didn’t have some dread of the road. But God is filling me with peace and strength as well. This is just a rough gravel road for the God who leads people over mountain-ranges. I certainly pray for and hope for healing, but if that is not what lies ahead, I am ready to walk on and see where the road leads. Thank you for your prayers.

Wow. I will definitely be praying for you as well!

My heart goes out to you, and I will certainly be praying for healing and God’s comfort and very special protection as you walk this road. I’ll rope in my church too.

[tangerine via masks] Would you like some (modern) tiger bells as well as good thoughts, when I have tiger bells?
February 11th, 2013 at 5:08 pm
I… didn’t you already give me one? Or am I mixed up?
February 11th, 2013 at 5:13 pm
I don’t think I’ve owned real live wild tiger bells before… [perplexed] What do you have, and are you sure it was me who sent it?
February 11th, 2013 at 7:33 pm
It’s a circular bell, small, like a clam-shell with a metal bead inside for a ringer. Gold-colored and patterned. I thought it was you who sent it, but I’m not positive. Leigh sent me a bell, but it’s a larger bell-shaped one.
February 12th, 2013 at 1:31 am
That’s a tiger bell all right, but if it’s from me I sent it in my sleep, because I have no memory of ever possessing it…would you like some more, then, probably of lower quality?
February 12th, 2013 at 6:14 am
How about just one, to keep my other one company? That would be a welcome thing.
February 12th, 2013 at 1:48 pm
You certainly have my prayers with you. I also recommend the healing powers of the Marx brothers.
February 12th, 2013 at 2:17 pm
Thank you, friend. You know, I think my housemate may have some Marx Brothers. I will have to check.
February 14th, 2013 at 9:29 am
As of last night, I can also recommend Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers for therapeutic amusement, especially when combined with excellent Thai food and friends.
February 12th, 2013 at 3:22 pm
Goodness. What a total blindside. You know I’m praying for you. I’m glad they caught it early!
February 12th, 2013 at 3:34 pm
Aye, total blindside. Thank you, Stephanie, for your prayers! I was very concerned, today, to not find your blog. I’m glad to see it’s up now. :)
